Weather-proof, UV resistant and with huge kerb appeal, Inalco MDi Silk Negro from CRL Stone makes a striking impression when used as cladding on the exterior of a property. The owners of the 1940s detached house in Hove, West Sussex, were keen to update the frontage while ensuring the finished look remained in keeping with the original Georgian features, ensuring the building continued to blend in with the street overall. To do this, the wood slat front common with this property type was replaced with Silk Negro in a similar slat format, to give the house a new look with a modern twist that continues to work in harmony with its surroundings.
For installers Stone Specialist, this was the first time they have worked with the material, but with several neighbours making enquiries as a result, they are confident it won’t be their last. “The stone-effect Silk Negro panelling has modernised the building, giving it a facelift,” commented Chris Savage. “It looks completely new and contemporary now and the client is very happy with the overall finish.”
Straightforward to fit, Inalco MDi is a highly durable material that is made to last, able to withstand changing weather conditions throughout the seasons. In a natural finish, Silk Negro is a dark, modern surface that fits seamlessly with modern designs, working in harmony with natural materials such as wood and the raw finish of brickwork.
The material’s low water absorption rate of less than 0.2% makes it ideal for outdoor environments where it won’t be impacted by frost and ice, while its UV resistance makes Silk Negro a colourfast surface that won’t fade over time, even when used outdoors and in direct sunlight. Making a striking impression on the cladding, Silk Negro was also chosen for the front wall of the property, creating a cohesive look that is streets ahead.
